Coming soon

This is JMK Engineering Letters, a brand new site by Jeff M that's just getting started.

It's the modern version of the JMK Engineering Newsletter that has been published, on a weekly-ish basis for about 13 years.

The difference is more than the name (letters vs newsletter) but that it is a private blog. The archives from this point forward will be available for all members to read and catchup on.

Not just letters

This format doesn't just allow me to send letters directly to your inbox, or have a running archive that you can access at your leisure, but it will also allow me to publish different types of content, publish ebooks, tutorials, etc.

In the future we may add payment tiers to support this work. The less consulting and design work that I have to take, the more time I have to develop tutorials, opinions, webinars, courses, etc that will help you in your career/business/etc.

I want to provide the information, templates, skills that I have built over the last 20y of my career to everyone that is interested. Accelerate the modernization of the power system in a way that doesn't increase breaking points, or lock-in with companies, protocols, etc that may make it harder to do your work.

But first the letters.

Like always, the letters will focus on something that I learned, solved or read about this week.

Some times its opinion on an article or trend, other times its an interpretation of a code/standard/etc that I think people get wrong.

Topics

The topics that I will focus on will include:

  • smart grid
  • industrial power system design
  • electrical safety
  • hydro generation
  • renewable generation
  • protection and controls
  • and more

Things will be up and running here shortly. If you are already subscribed to the newsletter I will be importing your subscription on March 22, 2025. If you are not subscribed yet, come back on March 23, 2025, new subscribers will be open then.
